After the first year, Cornell students can receive further intensive writing instruction through programs and courses
supported by the Knight Institute as well as in courses offered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the
College of Engineering, and the Hotel School.
The Knight Institute is engaged in several major initiatives that reflect different and complementary ways of making upper-level writing training available to students in various fields. The oldest of these, English 288-89, uses Knight Institute and English Department resources to offer cross-disciplinary writing courses to all Cornell students regardless of major or college. More recently, since its establishment in 1988, Writing in the Majors brings writing into departments and disciplines where it might not otherwise be richly used in advanced undergraduate courses. |
