TO APPLY FOR A POSITION Undergraduates in any major, in any college, and in any year of college, are welcome to apply for positions as Knight Institute Peer Mentors in Writing. Successful applicants will be excellent writers with well-developed interactive and listening skills. Mentors customarily work an average of five hours per week, and primarily focus on tutoring writing one-to-one. In addition to twice-weekly meetings with each student being mentored, the position entails periodic reports to the director of the program, as well as participation in preparatory and ongoing training and development. Rewards of mentoring include the satisfaction of coaching other students through their second semester of college, competitive wages, and congenial colleagues.
