Christa B. Downey, Assistant Dean & Director of Career Services

I am excited to join the Arts & Sciences student services team. Prior to this position, I coordinated the Engineering Co-op Program at Cornell and I’m looking forward to learning more about the diverse majors in this College. I love talking with people about their strengths and interests and working to find unique opportunities to connect the two.

A Pittsburgh native, I earned my B.S. in Industrial Management at Carnegie Mellon University. My undergraduate experience as a Head Orientation Leader and member of the Student Alumni Relations Council influenced my decision to pursue a career in Student Affairs. After earning an M.S. in College Student Personnel at Miami University (Miami was a University before Florida was a State), I held positions as a Residence Hall Director, Academic Advisor, and Adjunct Instructor. I currently serve on the board of New York State Cooperative and Experiential Education Association.

In my leisure time, I enjoy baking, reading, swimming, kayaking, camping, and anything that involves food or the outdoors. My favorite hike was in Poland’s Tatra Mountains.
