DOWNLOAD THE ANCIENT GREEK FONT "ATHENIAN"
I. THE "ATHENIAN" FONT FOR DISPLAYING ANCIENT GREEK TEXTS
TrueType "Athenian" is
part of GreekKeys, the Macintosh/Windows font + keyboard
package designed by George B. Walsh and Jeffrey Rusten, and owned
by the American Philological Association. The font contains all
common ancient Greek (polytonic) accents and symbols; it is to be
used on Macintosh and Windows (3.1 or 95) for READING Classical
Greek with Perseus (on the Web page or the CD version) and in
other publicly available ancient Greek texts.
The classical Greek font "Athenian" is copyrighted by
the American Philological Association; it may be freely
distributed to facilitate the distribution of ancient Greek texts
on the World Wide Web and other platforms, provided it is not
offered for sale and is accompanied by the "ReadMeGK"
instructions file.

II. HOW TO PURCHASE THE GREEKKEYS KEYBOARD UTILITY AND ADDITIONAL FONTS
The "Athenian" font will
allow the display of polytonic-accented characters that have
already been entered, but IN ORDER TO TYPE ACCENTED CHARACTERS,
THE GREEKKEYS KEYBOARD UTILITY MUST BE PURCHASED. This
utility enables convenient typing of all common Greek
accent-combinations, as well as additional TrueType and
Postscript fonts in Greek, with metrical and epigraphic symbols,
macrons for typing Latin text, and a 50-page instruction manual.

III. INSTALLING "ATHENIAN"
MACINTOSH (SYSTEM 7)
--Double-click on "Athenian.sea" to extract the Athenian folder on your hard disk
--Open the Athenian folder, and drag from it the font file "Athenian fonts" (shaped like a suitcase) over the (closed) "System Folder". (DO NOT DRAG THE WHOLE "ATHENIAN FOLDER", JUST THE FILE "ATHENIAN")
--A dialogue box will tell you it is directing the font into the appropriate part of the System Folder; click "ok".
You may need to restart your browser or Word Processor to view the Athenian font in the fonts menu.
WINDOWS 95
Double-click on "Athenian.exe" to extract the Athenian font ("Athenian.ttf") into the folder \Windows\Fonts on your hard disk.
You should now be able to access the fonts when you restart most applications (WORD, Internet Explorer, Netscape).
If not, install the font as follows:
--Go to the "Start" Menu, choose "Settings," then "Control panels".
--When the Control Panels window opens, double-click on "Fonts"
--When the Fonts window opens, go to the File menu, then select "Install new font"
--When the "Add Fonts" window appears, go to lower window ("folders") find and double-click to open the folder in which you placed "Athenian.ttf".
--The Athenian font should now appear in the "List of fonts" window above. Select it, then press "OK".
