Digital Resources for Classical Studies
Since 2000, I am the General Editor of L’Année philologique on the Internet, with Dee L. Clayman (The Graduate Center, CUNY). Among my responsibilities are editorial work on the content of the database (controlled vocabularies for modern authors, ancient authors, etc.), regular updates (integration of the retrospective volumes digitized by the DCB, of the annual volume, and monthly publication of interim records) and strategic planning for enhancement of the database and new developments.
I am presently working with Jouve on a new search interface for L’Année that should be online by January 2010. Click here for a quick presentation of its main new features.
In 2008-2009, with Adam Chandler and David Ruddy, both from Cornell University Library, I have explored into the possibilities and challenges of using OpenURL to provide system independent linking between citations of Classical literature in L’Année and available online Classical texts databases. This study was funded by an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant to the American Philological Association. Our results are presented at www.cwkb.org.
