The Economics Ph.D. Program
A classic view of Cornell's signature clocktower above Cayuga's sparkling waters.
Our Ph.D. Program faculty are drawn from five Departments or Schools at Cornell. We have faculty from the Department of Economics, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, the Johnson School of Management, the Department of Policy Analysis and Management and the Department of Applied Economics and Management. Since 1992 our Ph.D. Program faculty has more than doubled from 29 Economists to 64 this year.
Our breadth of faculty coverage offers students wide opportunities. Students can focus their study interests on any topic area as long as they can find at least two Ph.D. Program faculty members who approve of their topic selection and are willing to supervise the student.
Cornell is also what we call an open campus, students can take courses
in areas other than economics and participate in interdisciplinary work.
