Bio

Before joining the Department of English at Cornell, Sarah Jefferis was an Assistant Professor at Ithaca College in the Department of Writing. She also taught Women’s Studies and Gay and Lesbian Studies at Wells College, as well as Creative Writing at SUNY Binghamton. She received her MFA from Cornell in 1999. Her poetry book Forgetting the Salt was published in October of 2008 (foothills press). Her poems have appeared in journals such as The Mississippi Review, The Hollins Critic, Icon, The Healing Muse, and Icarus. Her other projects include a memoir entitled Running Over Jesus which is about falling in and out of love with the Anglican church, as well as another poetry collection on Motherhood. Her research and teaching interests include Creative Writing, Twentieth Century Women’s Memoir, Twentieth Century American Poetry, Queer Diasporic Fiction, Lesbian and Gay Studies as well as Feminist Theory.
