Bio

Carin Ruff grew up in Washington, D.C. Trained as a librarian and archivist, she worked in the Rare Book and Special Collections Division of the Library of Congress before moving to Toronto to pursue a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies. Before coming to Cornell, she taught Old English and the history of the English language at John Carroll University in Cleveland, and Medieval Latin at the University of California, Berkeley. At Cornell, she teaches courses in Medieval Latin and paleography for the Medieval Studies Program, as well as courses in textual studies and Old English for the English Department. Her research focuses on the Latin literature of England before the Norman Conquest.
