Bio

Stephanie Vaughn was educated at The Ohio State University and the University of Iowa (Writers’ Workshop) and did post-graduate work at Stanford University, where she was a Stegner Fellow and later a Jones Lecturer in Creative Writing. She came to Cornell as a Mellon postdoctoral fellow and is the recipient of a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellowship. She has served as director of Creative Writing three times, as Arts Advisor to the Provost, as and Chair of the Cornell Council for the Arts. She has served on the Graduate Education Task Force, the Transition Task Force, the Cultural Arts Task Force, and the Committee to Evaluate the Arts and the Council for the Arts at Cornell. She is co-faculty director of “Imagining Rome: Art Studio & Creative Writing workshop in Italy,” a special program run through Cornell Summer Sessions. She has published the collection of short stories Sweet Talk and written the introduction for an edition of Willa Cather’s My Antonia. She is at work on a novel set in Italy.
