Award. This award is given to a faculty member who has demonstrated devotion to teaching,

Professors R. Laurence Moore & Profressor John Weiss have been selected to be the recipients of the Kendall S. Carpenter Memorial Advising Award. This award recognizes faculty for their undergraduate advising both in and out of the classroom.

Congratulations Professor Eric Tagliacozzo
Professor Eric Tagliacozzo is the recipient of the Harry J. Benda Prize for his book entitled Secret Trades, Porous Borders. This award was presented to Professor Tagliacozzo at the recent meeting of the Association of Asian Studies. The Benda Prize is awarded once a year to the best book by a younger
scholar in the field of Southeast Asian Studies.

Congratulations Professor Aaron Sachs
Professor Aaron Sachs received honorable mention at the 2007 OAH Meeting for the Frederick Jackson Turner Award for an author's first book dealing with some significant phase of American history. Professor Sach's book is entitled The Humboldt Current: Nineteenth-Century Exploration and the Roots of American Environmentalism.

Congratulations Julian S. Lim, Ph.D. candidate
Julian Lim was the recipient of the Huggins-Quarles Award at the 2007 OAH Meeting. This award is given to graduate students of color at the dissertation research stage of their Ph.D. program. Julian's dissertation is entitled "Race, Nations, Borders, and Freedoms: Multiracial Societies in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands, 1880-1930"
