FGSS is indebted to the many contributors who have helped us to support our teaching, research and public efforts. Special thanks goes to David Brown Cornell '66 for endowing the fund for the Beatrice Brown awards, and those alumni/-ae who have make possible the FGSS dissertation fellowship. We also relish our ongoing contact with former students in the program, and invite you to reacquaint yourselves with our activities by joining the FGSS listserv.
As we look toward the next few years and a new campaign, the FGSS faculty have identified the following program funding priorities:
- a series of major events bringing distinguished talent to Cornell in fields that would be of interest to women at Cornell and our students and faculty in FGSS.
- a two- or three-week visit from an artist, journalist, or some other distinguished guest in FGSS or of interest to women at Cornell. A model visit would include lectures, classroom visits, and workshops that would involve our students and faculty in a sustained conversation with our guest.
- an endowment to grant time to a senior faculty member for team-teaching our over-enrolled introductory course to Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies.
- a series of lectures or presentations by Cornell alumnae women who have distinguished themselves in their fields, to serve as models for current Cornell students.
- a symposium on "women and medicine and the life sciences" geared toward undergraduate students, presenting them with role models and in-depth consideration of careers and life paths for women in these areas.
