Welcome back! The schedule for the 2008 spring semester auditions are as follows:
Wed, Jan 23, Lincoln Hall B21
4:00-5:30 pm all saxophones
6:00-7:00 pm trumpets, trombones, and tuba
7:30-9:30 pm all rhythm (guitar, piano, bass, drums, and vibes).
As was the case last semester, each audition will consist of sight reading, a prepared melody (Solar, Miles Davis), and an improvisation on it (optional for big band, required for rhythm). Results will be e-mailed and posted outside Lincoln 235 by Thursday morning. An info sheet and a lead sheet is available to the left. - Courses
- A comprehensive course listing can be found in the course catalogue, here. Jazz related courses include (but may not necessarily be offered or limited to): Jazz Improvisation I, Jazz Improvisation II, Topics in Popular Music and Jazz, Survey of Jazz, and Jazz Arranging. Jazz Ensembles and Combos are one credit hour per class, and require audition. Private instruction for credit and non-credit is also available.
