Joe Martin Joe Martin, the Director of the Writing Workshop, received an M.A. from Cornell in 1972 and has taught in the Writing Workshop since 1978. He has taught writing courses for both the Knight Institute and the Department of English, working with students at every level of the academic curriculum. He is also a member of the Teaching Writing (WRIT 7100) staff, helping graduate instructors develop First-Year Writing Seminars and their teaching practices. In 1982 Joe developed a computing center for students in writing seminars; with two Cornell colleagues, he also developed PROSE, an award-winning computer program that allowed teachers to comment on student essays and guide students through the revision process. In 1989 he became director of the Walk-In Service. He has served as director of the Writing Workshop since 1992. Joe is also Senior Editor of Epoch magazine, published by the creative writing program in the Department of English. |
