Applications for tutoring positions are available at the Writing Workshop, 174 Rockefeller Hall or here. Applications are accepted year-round and positions filled as needed. There are always a few positions to fill for the following academic year; sometimes a position begins with the spring semester. Qualifications are good writing skills and – just as important – good interactive and listening skills.
Applications are especially welcome from those available to tutor for more than one year. Recent tutors have come from the fields of botany, business, education, nutrition, operations research, pre-med, psychology, and public affairs, as well as literature and the arts.
Tutors customarily work five to ten hours per week, with all varieties and stages of writing. Competitive wages and congenial colleagues make this an attractive part-time job for both graduate and undergraduate students.

Freelance Editors
The Writing Walk-In Service maintains a list of freelance editors for those times when people seek help with writing that goes beyond the scope of our tutoring service: writers who have a thesis, dissertation, or otherwise long paper or project; or writers seeking editing and corrections.
Freelance editors set their own rates and arrange their own meeting places with clients. (We generally advise negotiating upwards of $15/hr--it depends on the extent of the editor's experience, the nature of the writing project, and the client's financial resources.)
The list will also be available in the Writing Workshop office in 174 Rockefeller Hall.
