Iago Gocheleishvili

Iago Gocheleishvili holds a Ph.D. in History with specialization on the Near East and Caucasus. His major research topic is Iran and the Caucasus in the Mongol era (XIII-XIV). His research interests include inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations (Islam, Christianity, Judaism) in the Caucasus, and the peculiarities of the Iranian-Georgian relations from the Middle Ages to modern times. He is currently working on a book tentatively entitled “Iranian Constitutional Movement and the Caucasus: Georgian connections of the Iranian Constitutional revolution of 1905-1911”. He has been combining his research activities with the teaching of less commonly taught Near Eastern and Caucasian languages, namely Persian and Georgian.
