Monroe (Ph.D., Near Eastern Studies, University of Michigan, 2000; M.A., Nautical Archaeology, Texas A&M University, 1990; M.S., Information, University of Michigan, 2001) is a Senior Lecturer of Near Eastern Studies and author of Scales of Fate: Trade, Tradition, and Transformation in the Eastern Mediterranean ca. 1350-1175 BCE (upcoming 2009). His primary interest is in socioeconomic relations in the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East in the Bronze Age, with a particular focus on maritime traders.
