Five days of classes, April 20-24, 2010. Participants should plan on
committing to the entire duration of the class. Date of arrival in
Ithaca will be the afternoon of April 20 and departure on April 25.
The workshop will include score study sessions, conducting sessions
with two pianos, conducting sessions with string quartet and piano,
conducting sessions with Ithaca College Symphony orchestra and Cornell
symphony orchestra, and video review. All sessions will be
videotaped.
Eight conductors will be chosen to be active conductors and up to
twelve additional conductors will be selected to be auditors.
Active Participants will be given 50 minutes of podium time with the
two orchestras and 80 minutes of podium time in sessions with two
pianos (2 sessions) and string quartet and piano (2 sessions).

Participant fee: $1100
Auditor fee: $250
The participant fee or auditor fee does NOT include travel, housing, or
meals. Local transportation will be provided.
The workshop fees are due upon notice of acceptance to the workshop.
The fee will act as a deposit to reserve each Participant/Auditor’s
place in the workshop. Deposits will be refunded up to four weeks
before the first day of the workshop. After that date, fees will be
refunded only if the withdrawing applicant’s place in the workshop is
filled by another Participant/Auditor. Information about travel and
housing will be sent to all attendees along with their acceptance
notification.
Application Deadline: February 3, 2010 (Receipt Date).
Payment Deadline: Tuition is due upon notification of acceptance.

In addition to this form, please send a DVD or Videotape (NTSC format)
of representative performances and rehearsals no longer than 15 minutes
to the following address by February 2, 2009 (Receipt Date).

Diploma, Zurich Conservatory, Switzerland. Music Director, Greater
Bridgeport Symphony in Connecticut. Regular appearances as guest
conductor in Europe, South and Central America, China, Canada, and
throughout the United States. Former director of the Conductors Seminar
at Tanglewood from 1980 to 1996. Former faculty, Yale School of Music,
Eastman School of Music, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, the
Tanglewood Music Center. Awards include the 1988 Luise Vosgerchian
Teaching Award from Harvard University, the 1995 Ditson Prize for a
commitment to consistently perform works of American composers, and the
Max Rudolf Award in 1999 from the Conductors Guild of America. Regular
conducting master classes in such cities as Kiev, Beijing, Mexico City,
Prague, Sofia, and Adelaide.
