Pina Swenson received her Doctorate in Foreign Languages and Literature
from the University of Rome, Italy, and her Ph.D. in General Linguistics
from Cornell University.
She has focused her work on Italian language and literature, has
developed extensive materials for each level, including the course
books for all levels. She also wrote with Cecilia Bartoli (not the
opera singer) a first-level language textbook that was used at Cornell
throughout the eighties, Basic Italian.
She is the recipient of the Clark Award for Distinguished Teaching.
