Eve Troutt-Powell is assistant professor in the Department of History at the University of Gerogia. Her specialties include modern Egyptian cultural history, Sudanese history, the history of slavery in Islamic North Africa, and women's history.

She is the author of Different Shades of Colonialism: Egypt, Great Britain and the Mastery of the Sudan, 1865-1925 (California 2003) and co-author with John Hunwick of The African Diaspora in the Mediterranean Lands of Islam (Markus Wiener 2002).
