Dwight Reynolds is professor in the Department of Religious Studies and former chair of Islamic and Near Eastern Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His specialties include Arabic language and literature, Arabic folklore and folk literature, oral and music traditions of the Middle East, and ethnographic fieldwork methodologies. He is the author of Poetic Heroes, Heroic Poets: The ethnography of performance in an Arabic oral epic tradition (Cornell 1995) and has co-edited with Virginia Danielson and Scott Marcus the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music, vol. 6: the Middle East (Garland 2000). |
