Career Advising

Available in 55 Goldwin Smith Hall; consult the special A&S Career Services web page for further and particular information.

Christa B. Downey, director of A&S Career Services, Diane Miller, career advisor, and Irene Komor, career counselor, help students in the liberal arts and sciences develop career options.

In addition to referring you to Cornell Career Services' extensive resources (library, summer job listings, on-campus recruiting, and credentials service), A&S career advisors emphasize:

  • Career development [programs to help all undergraduate career opportunities open to them and understand where their passion for learning leads them; for example, helping them understand how their studies, their competencies, and interests can be tested in diverse work settings through externships and internships over their four years at Cornell]
  • Career programming [what one can pursue with a particular major and careers in various sectors: business, government, non-profit]
  • Pre-professional and graduate school advising [programmatic and individual]
  • Internships [work in a potential career field] and externships ["shadowing" someone in their workplace]
  • Networking with alumni
  • Individual career counseling, including interest and skills testing
