Ellen Gainor

J. Ellen Gainor (M.F.A., Yale School of Drama; Ph.D., Princeton University),

Professor J. Ellen Gainor serves as a Graduate Field Faculty member for the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance. She offers classes in British and American drama on both the graduate and undergraduate levels and specializes in feminist theatre criticism and women playwrights. She also serves as the director of Undergraduate Studies for the Womenıs Studies Program.

Her books include Shaw's Daughters: Dramatic and Narrative Constructions of Gender and the forthcoming The Plays of Susan Glaspell: A Contextual Study. She edited the critical volumes Imperialism and Theatre and Performing America: Cultural Nationalism in American Theatre. Professor Gainor works with students interested in dramaturgy and arts management. She also directs and teaches acting.
