The Servant of Two Masters
by Carlo Goldoni
September 17-19, 24-26
Kiplinger Theatre

Bursting with mistaken identities, acrobatic pratfalls, improbable miscommunications and a dash of romance, The Servant of Two Masters is a sparkling and classic Italian comedy. Set in Venice, this commedia dell’ arte extravaganza follows the antics of a wily servant who gets the best of both his masters.

Spoglia REDUX: Italy in Ithaca

With live musical performances by Mary Lorson and Jennie Lowe Stearns

Short films by Byron Suber, CU dance faculty

Inspired by scenes in Italian neo-realist and post-war films such as Rossellini's Rome, Open City, Pasolini's Accatone and Mamma Roma, Fellini's La Dolce Vita and Antonioni's The Eclipse, each one of Suber's films re-creates an iconic scene from one of these masterpieces, reproducing the movement and re-transcribing it onto an Ithaca location. The results are sometimes haunting, sometimes humorous and most often, oddly beautiful. Suber will talk about the films, which were originally created for a live multi-media performance and choreographed by him, and presented at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts in March 2008, as part of the evening's presentation.

Saturday, September 19 at 7:30pm
