DIRECTIONS

Directions from Rochester

Use local roads to I-490. Go SE on I-490 to I-90 (The New York State Thruway). Go East on I-90 (The New York State Thruway) for 24 miles to Exit 42 for State Rte 14. Go South on State Rte 14 for one quarter mile to State Rte 96. Go South on State Rte 96 for 42 miles to Ithaca, NY. Once in Ithaca, there will be signs directing you to campus; use these in conjunction with the directions below to find Cornell. From Rte 96, go through lights to Rte 79E on Green Street Follow 79E up hill and turn left onto Mitchell Street Follow Mitchell and turn left onto Dryden Road. A parking garage is on your right. The Schwartz Center is located on College Avenue at the intersection of Oak Avenue.

Directions from Syracuse

Use local roads to I-81. Go South on I-81 to Exit 12 at Cortland-Homer Take Rte. 281 South to State Rte 13. Go South on State Route 13 to Ithaca, NY. Upon arriving in Ithaca, please follow local signs directing you to Cornell University. Use these directions in conjunction with the following to find campus. Once on State Rte. 13, continue South to State Rte. 366. Turn left after the NYSEG complex onto State Rte. 366. Follow State Rte. 366 East, which will lead you straight into campus. At the campus entrance, turn left onto Ithaca Road. Turn right onto Dryden Road. Go straight down Dryden Road through the intersection of College Avenue. 1/2 black after College Avenue is a parking garage located on your right. The Schwartz Center is located on College Avenue at the intersection of Oak Avenue.

Directions from Binghamton

Use local roads to I-81. Go North on I-81 to Exit 8 for State Rte 79 at Whitney Point, NY. Go West on State Rte 79 for approximately 35 miles to Ithaca, NY. Once in Ithaca, there will be signs directing you to campus. Use these in conjunction with the directions below to find Cornell. Rte 79 W will bring you into Ithaca on State Street. From State, make a right turn onto Mitchell at the stop sign. Follow Mitchell and turn left onto College Avenue. Go two blocks to Dryden Road. Turn left onto Dryden to the parking garage. The Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts is located on College Avenue at the intersection of Oak Avenue.
Use local roads to State Rte 13. Go North on State Rte 13 for 28 miles to Ithaca, NY. Upon arriving in Ithaca, local signs will direct you to Cornell University. Use these in conjunction with the directions below to find campus. Turn right onto Rte 79E at Green Street Follow 79E up hill and turn left onto Mitchell Street Follow Mitchell up the hill. Turn left onto Dryden Road. A parking garage is on your right. The Schwartz Center is located on College Avenue at the intersection of Oak Avenue.

 

PARKING


There are a number of options for parking conveniently and inexpensively while visiting the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts.
Dryden Road parking garage: This city-owned lot is located next to the Schwartz Center, with easy access to the building. The charge is $1.00 per hour. This lot fills up quickly on performance and weekend nights, so plan to arrive early!
Dryden Road and Eddy Street parking: Street parking spaces on Dryden or Eddy are inexpensive, but you have to take your chances on finding a spot.

POST PERFORMANCE DISCUSSIONS

Discussions are held after the show on the 2nd Thursday Performance.  These discussions are moderated by our in house Dramaturg and include various creative talent from the production.

 

ACCESSIBLE SEATING

Seating in the center rear orchestra is reserved for our patrons needing more accessibility.  We recommend that you call ahead (607-254-ARTS) to reserve this seating as it is limited.  If you need accessible access to the rear of the theatre from Dryden parking garage please call the box office in advance to arrange for a house manager to meet you.

 

ASSISTIVE LISTENING DEVICES

The Schwartz Center is happy to provide Assistive Listening Devices for our patrons who would like their theatre experience amplified.  These Sennheiser Listening devices work best if put directly into the ears however T-coil induction loops are also available.  The sound signal is received via infrared transmitters. 

Devices are distributed on a first come first served basis.  You may call the box office (607-254-ARTS) in advance to make them aware that you will need a device.  This will also help us prepare the devices for distribution at show time. 

A driver’s license or credit card will need to be left with the box office, in exchange for the device.  After the show please return the device to the house manager (just outside the theatre, and your id/credit card will be returned to you.

 

SERVICE ANIMALS

We welcome service animals in our building, however we do ask that you call the box office (607-254-ARTS) ahead of time so that we may prepare you and your service animal for the performance and have appropriate seating.  Service Animals IN TRAINING must notify the box office in advance of attending a performance.

BABES IN ARMS

Babes in arms of adults are not permitted in the theatres, except for children's shows. Also, as a courtesy to our audience members and per- formers, parents may be asked to remove disruptive children from the theatre.

 

HOUSE POLICIES

  • House Manager- the House Manager can assist you with questions regarding parking, patron services, and house policies.  You can speak to a house manager by calling 607-254-ARTS Monday-Friday 12:30p-5:30p and one hour prior to show time (through curtain time).  The House Manager is on duty one hour prior to curtain through the completion of the show or post show discussion.
  • Late Seating- All performances begin promptly at the advertised curtain time.  To ensure the enjoyment of the majority of our patrons, and in deference to the performers, latecomers will be seated at an appropriate pause in the performance (At the discretion of the House Manager).  Latecomer seating is limited and not guaranteed.
  • Electronic Equipment- In consideration of other patrons, the performers, and the integrity of our sound system please turn off/silence all electronic devices when you enter the theatre.  If your cell phone or pager needs to be on for an emergency we ask that you exit the theatre to respond to a message.  Please do not text in the theatre, as it is disruptive to other patrons, as well as interferes with our sound system.
  • Cameras/Recording Devices: The use of cameras and/or all recording devices (including camera phones) is strictly prohibited by Actor’s Equity Association and the Section 31:01 of the New York State Arts and Cultural Affairs Law...  Unauthorized recording devices will be confiscated by the management.
  • No Smoking Please- Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts.  Please also refrain from smoking within 25’ of building entrances.
  • Food and drink is strictly prohibited in all Schwartz Center theatres
    Restrooms are located on the basement and sub-basement levels.
