Graduate Financial SupportTheatre arts provides full support, including tuition, individual health coverage, and a fellowship or stipend of varying levels, for its graduate students for four to five years. In the first and fourth years, support usually takes the form of a non-teaching fellowship. In other years, support is most often in the form of a teaching assistantship, which involves an average of 15 to 20 hours work per week for the First Year Writing Seminar Program. Some other assistantships are also available. These require an average of 15 to 20 hours of work per week; usually this work involves serving as a faculty research assistant, grading papers for a suitable undergraduate course, or film projecting or archiving. Support is awarded on the basis of teaching and service requirements of the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance and on competitive evaluation. All students are urged to seek outside support for which they are eligible. |
